Merrillville Street Department pitches in to assist State with US30/Taft Street repairs

In the face of the ongoing struggle by the State of Indiana to address the extensive damage caused by potholes during the harsh winter weather, Steve King, our dedicated Director of the Merrillville Street Department, has generously offered assistance to expedite the repairs. Understanding the urgency of the situation, King’s proactive initiative aims to ensure our roads are safe and well-maintained.

This Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Merrillville Street Department employees rallied together to contribute their efforts towards this crucial cause. Focusing their attention on the problematic stretch of US30, which had developed significant potholes due to the relentless freeze-thaw cycles, our diligent workers worked tirelessly to rectify the situation. US30, being a heavily traversed highway frequented by delivery trucks and other large vehicles, required immediate attention to guarantee the safety of all travelers.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the selfless associates who willingly volunteered their time on a Sunday, demonstrating their commitment to the well-being of Merrillville’s residents. It is moments like these that showcase the strength of our community, where caring employees step up without hesitation when their assistance is needed the most.

As Town Council President and Ward 5 Representative, I want to express our deep gratitude to each and every individual who played a part in this timely and essential effort. We are indeed fortunate to have such dedicated and compassionate employees who prioritize the safety and convenience of our fellow residents.

Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to keeping Merrillville a safe and thriving community. Warm regards, Rick Bella, Town Council President – Ward 5 Representative
